Position Summary:

The Production Group Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring employees work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This position serves as a frontline leader, providing direction, training, and support to production associates while helping achieve production goals, maintaining product quality, and promoting a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of assigned production group
  • Ensure production schedules, output targets, and quality standards are met
  • Monitor workflow and adjust assignments to maintain efficiency
  • Perform hands-on production work as needed
  • Identify and report equipment, material, or process issues
  • Provide direction, training, and guidance to production employees
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions or concerns
  • Assist with onboarding and cross-training of team members
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive work culture
  • Communicate expectations and feedback clearly to team members
  • Enforce safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications
  • Conduct routine quality checks and document results
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts
  • Report safety incidents, near misses, and quality concerns promptly
  • Communicate production status, issues, and improvements to supervisors
  • Maintain accurate production, downtime, and attendance records
  • Participate in shift handoffs and production meetings
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or production experience
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead by example and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures. 

Preferred

  • Previous lead, senior operator, or informal supervisory experience
  • Experience with manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement
  • Forklift or equipment certification (if applicable)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge in ERP and QMS systems
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMPs, and food safety protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Office, Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and operate material handling equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Cold environments (typically 35–45°F) in processing and warehouse areas.
  • May involve exposure to raw meat products.
  • Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work schedule may include overtime.
