JOB SUMMARY: 

The Electronics Technician performs tests on electronic components to support Product Development. This individual will also be called on to set up tests and test equipment to support product development, and perform maintenance on equipment.  Technicians will also diagnose and troubleshoot problems with S&S electronic components as they arise, providing detailed reports of findings and recommendations for improvements.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy 

  • Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions 

  • Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees

  • Prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting circuits and wiring systems including test equipment

  • Document test results using Google Suite

  • Solder surface mount and through hole components

  • Maintain inventory of electrical supplies and related tools/equipment

  • Prototype motorcycle/vehicle wiring harnesses as well as sourcing components and assist and/or lead design of production harnesses

  • Testing of new electrical/electronic designs (both hardware and software)

  • When needed, assist in troubleshooting and repair of electrical/electronic systems for Product Development test equipment (i.e. engine test cell equipment)

  • Assists with establishing test requirements

  • Provide assistance, repair work, and diagnose field test problems

  • Prototype building of electronic circuits

  • Testing of returned electrical products

  • Assist with hardware and software engineers with new products

  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe lab environment

  • Provide electronics support for S&S motorcycle test fleet ensuring safe operation and accurate test results


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experienced working as an electrical technician in an engineering role or equivalent

  • Motorcycle and fuel injection experience a plus

  • Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards

  • High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus

  • Well organized and self-directed

  • Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computer applications

  • Familiarity with automotive type test equipment, oscilloscope, frequency generator, and DMM use 

  • Ability to read schematics and build prototypes

  • Data acquisition and schematic capture software experience a plus

  • 2 Year electronics-related degree and 2 years of experience; 5 years’ experience in lieu of degree


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Work is performed in both an office environment and a testing lab environment, employee will be exposed to various noise levels from equipment, tools, and engines

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel or crawl. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must comply with safety equipment standards: safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toe shoes when present in areas where required
