Your Role as an Assistant Teacher
As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll work closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom environment for infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children. You’ll help implement play-based learning activities, manage classroom routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time
  • Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests
  • Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands-on activities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations
  • Encourage independence, self-help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies
  • Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team
  • Provide age-appropriate support for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers, depending on assigned classroom
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education (preferred)
  • Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP)
  • Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to multitask, follow classroom structure, and adapt to children’s needs
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CDA or enrollment in Early Childhood Education courses (preferred but not required)
