JOB SUMMARY:   

The purpose of this position is to primarily support the Operations, Strategy, and Sales organizations with data, resource analysis and business case support. This job is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and reporting analysis to improve processes, meet goals/challenges, and solve problems. This role supports the President VNG organization with various levels of analytical support to ensure that department metrics and reports are created and provided to both external and internal stakeholders. This role works cross-functionally with VNG business units to leverage back-end data, streamline analysis, and support rate case questions and reviews.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Functional Expertise

  • Supports business areas in strategic planning 
  • Provides business area value added analysis and reporting (monthly variance reporting, trending, timecard analysis, projections, presentations and ad-hoc analysis) to support business decision makers 
  • Works with business area leaders to achieve desired results  
  • Supports business area needs (non-budget/finance)
  • Provides specialized queries and reports to meet management requirements/under direction of FP&A leadership
  • Maps existing processes and creates and maintains training and procedural documentation 

 

Business Acumen

  • Analyzes financial and non-financial data to help drive business decisions        
  • Articulates results, variances, and key drivers effectively
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the business and industry in analyses
  • Creates scenario models
  • Proposes recommendations and alternatives to meet objectives
  • Supports Financial Analysts in preparing labor and expense budgets with data analysis trending 
  • Generates reports for management workflow

 

Engagement

  • Collaborates with business area to understand trends and initiatives (current and future)
  • Builds effective relationships with business area(s) supported
  • Provides excellent customer service to all stakeholders to ensure that goals and expectations regarding metrics and other deliverables are met
  • Acting as subject matter expert in process development and as a trusted resource for problem solving
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the business area supported
  • Influences business decisions by sharing analyses and expertise

 

Driving Results

  • Monitors results versus plan and works with business leaders to achieve desired results
  • Implements and/or drives process improvements
  • Provides specialized queries and reports to meet customer requirements/specifications

 

Qualifications 

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • High School Diploma

Preferred: 

  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, Computer Science/Information Systems, (or suitable work experience in lieu of degree)

Desired:

  • MBA 

 

Related Work Experience: 

Required:

Business Support Analyst II

  • 2+ years experience performing analysis, planning, and management reporting
  • Experience working with senior leadership on an individual and team basis

 

Business Support Analyst III

  • 4+ years experience performing analysis, planning, and management reporting
  • Experience working with senior leadership on an individual and team basis
  • Meet all of Business Support Analyst I work experience requirements 

 

Business Support Analyst Sr

  • 7+ years experience performing analysis, planning, and management reporting
  • Experience working with senior leadership on an individual and team basis
  • Meet all of Business Support Analyst II work experience requirements 

 

Preferred:

  • Utility, natural gas or other energy industry experience
  • Capital and O&M invoice processing and review experience 

 

*Applicants may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience

 

Specific Skills & Knowledge: 

Required:

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday, SAP or similar systems
  • MS Excel – intermediate to advanced proficiency
  • MS Office Suite – intermediate proficiency
  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills

 

Preferred:

  • General knowledge of accounting
  • Power BI or Tableau – intermediate to advanced proficiency
  • IBM Maximo – intermediate to advanced proficiency or similar supply chain system 
  • Advanced analytic skills with software
  • Experience using AI tools and resources, such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 

  • The incumbent works a hybrid schedule in the office/on-site 4 days per week with 1 remote day from home and subject to change per business needs. 
  • Infrequent Traveler (0-5% travel): The incumbent may be required to travel on a very limited basis.  Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
