Overview:

Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for the Central Fill Pharmacy at Sentara Independence in Virginia Beach, VA.

Location: Sentara Independence - 800 Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455

Status: Full Time (40 Hours/wk)

Shift: Days, 8 hour shifts

Hours: Mon-Fri 0800-1630

The Central Fill Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately and efficiently repackaging oral solid medications utilizing automated robotic dispensing and packaging systems. This role supports high-volume pharmacy operations by ensuring medications are prepared, labeled, and distributed in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and productivity.

  • Participates in the training of new employees
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to pharmacy operations
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)

Experience

  • One Year of Pharmacy Experience (Required)

  • Central Fill Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)
