Role Overview
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for driving safe, sustainable, and measurable improvements across ASC’s manufacturing and operational processes. This role analyzes processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and leads initiatives focused on increasing productivity, reducing waste, improving quality, and optimizing operational efficiency. The Continuous Improvement Specialist partners closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to identify root causes, implement process improvements, standardize best practices, and support a culture of continuous improvement. Success in this role is measured through measurable improvements in productivity, quality, cost, safety, process efficiency, and the successful implementation and sustainability of continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and execute hands-on and physical task associated with continuous and lean improvement initiatives.
- Weld, fabricate, drill and assemble materials, parts and components to execute continuous improvement activities/projects and operational enhancement.
- Setup and install basic (non-technical) new equipment, fixtures, tools and machinery such as new racks, tables, stands, carts, boards table/hand tools related to new implementation initiatives.
- Apply, build and add visual management aids per continuous improvement initiatives.
- Install floor marking tape, visual boards, signage and other lean tools across the workspace as guided through continuous/lean improvement projects.
- Operate machinery and tools that he/she has been trained and authorized to operate to build, assemble or setup continuous improvement project components.Â
- Â Execute physical tasks associated with lean and continuous improvements, including constructing and modifying workstations, internal process tools and storage systems.
- Ensure proper setup and alignment of improvement fixtures and tools on the production floor.
- Work closely with employees, supervisors and stakeholders to bring improvement designs to life through hands-on execution.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of improvement initiatives.
- Assist with managing and implementing workcenter implementation of physical adjustments such as layout changes and workstation upgrades.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting newly implemented improvement setups.
- Assist/lead in the design and build of customized fixtures, tables, stands for process improvement enhancements.
- Safely utilize hand tools in accordance with all ASC PPE procedures and policies.
- Physically lead and execute tasks related to Kaizen Events.
- Construct and assemble work aids such as carts, tool stands, and shadow boards.
- Apply lean methodologies by marking aisles, zones, and hazard areas with floor tape, signage or paint
What we're looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- MIG Welding Certification preferred; TIG Certification a plus
- Vocational or prior welding education preferred
- At least 1 year of welding, fabrication, or manufacturing experience
- Welder I experience with GMAW (MIG) welding, including flat and out-of-position welding
- Experience using power tools, hand tools, and measuring tools
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Creative, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective time management and ability to meet production goals
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and accountability
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and fabrication environment
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in various positions
- Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required
- Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures
- Ability to work around welding fumes, sparks, noise, and moving equipment
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
