PRIVATE CHEF (Virginia Beach, VA)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced and creative Private Chef to join our household staff and provide exceptional culinary services for a private residence. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, skilled in diverse cuisines and able to design menus that reflect the household’s preferences, dietary needs and lifestyle. This role requires discretion, professionalism and flexibility to accommodate varying schedules and events.

PRIMARY DUTIES (including but not limited to):

• Menu Planning & Preparation:
  • Develop weekly menus tailored to family preferences, dietary restrictions and seasonal ingredients.
  • Prepare daily meals (lunch and dinner) and snacks for residents and occasional guests.
• Special Events & Entertaining:
  • Plan and execute menus for private parties, holidays and special occasions.
  • Coordinate with household staff for seamless event service.
• Ingredient Sourcing & Inventory:
  • Shop for high-quality, fresh ingredients; maintain pantry and kitchen inventory.
  • Build relationships with local vendors and specialty suppliers.
• Kitchen Management:
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen environment.
  • Ensure proper food storage and compliance with health standards.
• Dietary & Nutritional Needs:
  • Accommodate allergies, health goals and special diets.
  • Provide balanced, nutritious meals aligned with household preferences.
• Any other duties assigned
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Proven experience as a Private Chef or in fine dining/private catering.
• Culinary degree or equivalent professional training required.
• Expertise in a wide range of cuisines and cooking techniques.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods walking, standing
• Must be physically able to operate kitchen equipment/appliances
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
