Job DetailsJob Location: Vonore, TN 37885Job Shift: DayQuality Lab Technician  Job summary The candidate will be working with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and scale up a process to produce pulp and lignin products from cellulosic biomass.  The primary responsibilities of this individual will be to provide analytical support to the program, in order to characterize streams coming out of the various unit operations and final product essay.  This individual will be responsible for carrying out existing analytical methods, as well as modifying existing methods for different types of samples or developing and validating new methods and performing quality assurance on products.   Responsibilities   •           Maintains knowledge and skill for lab equipment, procedures, and maintenance.  •     Demonstrated ability to work independently with assays, measurements, troubleshooting, calibrating, and interpreting results. •           Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute work to meet needs and timelines •           Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands •           Excellent documentation & communication skills •           Demonstrated capability with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel •           Experience and skill at developing strong team interactions •           Documentation and essays for final product •           Participating in QA and safety audits   Qualifications   •           Knowledge of laboratory equipment and its science. •           Associates Degree with above average math, science & communication skills.  Education in chemistry, statistics, and/or microbiology is a plus.   Experience required   2 years plant laboratory or science facility experience or equivalent demonstration   Physical Demands   While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to talk and/or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to grasp, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, to reach with hands and arms, climb ladders and stairs, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch and push or pull on objects. There may be prolonged periods of standing at a lab counter working on a computer. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This position will require the use of safety equipment and clothing.  Where noise levels exceed allowable limits, hearing protection is required and provided.
