Summary: Responsible for generating new deposits and acquiring new client relationships specific to nonprofit organizations, public funds entities and commercial business. Serves as a liaison for above customers to facilitate a thorough service and delivery of banking products. Works closely with bank partners to cross sell products and services. Serves as a community leader creating visibility to Columbia Bank to accelerate Columbia’s market share and achieve revenue goals.

Job Responsibilities 

Nonprofit & Government Business Development

  • Generate new deposits and profitable client relationships specific to nonprofit organizations, public funds entities including municipalities, boards of education, and any other government banking relationship and commercial business.
  • Serves as a liaison for above customers to facilitate a thorough service and delivery of banking products for these entities. 
  • Travels to client sites with bank partners for consultative and productive discussions about bank products and services to acquire new profitable client relationships to achieve the bank’s strategic goals and deposit growth. 
  • Complete RFP’s for new public funds relationships.

​Internal Alignment/Relationship Management

  • Assists bank partners to review nonprofit organizations and public funds banking needs and formulate recommendations and proposals for banking services. 
  • Maintains knowledge and the ability to understand nonprofit and government banking requirements. 
  • Cross sells all bank products and treasury services while working with the client and its constituents. 
  • Supports sales and service efforts of bank partners to deepen and expand upon customer relationships.

External Event/Relationship Management

  • Provides ongoing support to the Columbia Bank Foundation and Community Development.
  • Acts as an ambassador between Columbia Bank, the Columbia Bank Foundation, and the community. 
  • Serves as a community leader creating visibility to Columbia Bank to accelerate the bank’s branch and market share. 
  • Attends industry conferences, conventions, corporate suite events, golf outings and other corporate gatherings as required for the purpose of developing new business, maintaining commercial relationships, and representing the bank. 
  • Attends check presentations as relevant.

Commercial/Non-Profit Banking Policy Knowledge

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the bank’s strategic plan, current product offerings and any relevant industry demands and trends.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Business Development experience as a relationship manager, experience in non-profit & government sector preferred;
  • Experience leading solicitation and portfolio management activities, including kickoff meeting(s) with business unit and sales, developing a solicitation project plan, managing tasks and due dates for stakeholders, updating the RFP tracker, and communicating project status to management;
  • Substantial relationships with Local and State government agencies;
  • Relationships with Local, Regional and National non-profits highly preferred.
  • Ability to network and meet with customers/partners/influencers in pursuit of new business to assess customer needs and develop preliminary solutions;
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, self-starter attitude, self-awareness, and integrity;
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities;
  • Excellent proposal writing and communications skills with the ability to interact on an executive level, presenting key information to the leadership team;
  • History of community involvement through volunteerism and/or representation with charitable organizations;
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills.

Schedule:

Hybrid; 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home based on business need.
