Pre-Assembly and Carting 2nd shift

Summary

The Pre-Assembly and Carting Specialist organizes, picks, and puts away manufactured parts while maintaining manufactured part counts. Individual uses handheld pocket PCs to determine locations to pick or place parts.

Essential Functions

1. Organizes, carts and maintains all picking queues.
2. Maintains thorough knowledge of area placement of picked parts.
3. Moves manufactured parts to storage area using push/pull cart.
4. Uses handheld pocket PCs to determine location of parts.
5. Ensures all parts are placed in proper order and carts are loaded in proper sequence.
6. Works with Parts-Making to obtain and store parts.
7. Loads carts with proper parts and identifies proper quality of the parts picked.
8. Complete working knowledge of proper inventory, zones and dispatch lists.
9. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner.
• Basic knowledge of Windows, Excel, and Word. Ability to operate a pocket PC.
• May be required to work with or train new employees in the use of a hand held pc.
• Must be able to understand and comprehend grid areas and locations.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of Fourth Shift or the ability to learn it.

Working conditions

Our production environment is typical for wood manufacturing and includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust, and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold. Individual may be subject to vibration. Individual is subject to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and/or heat.

Physical requirements

Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
