Position Title: Baylor University Press Production Assistant

Position Description: Baylor University Press serves the academic community by publishing scholarly books and textbooks with a connection to the field of religion. The Press’ website can be found at www.baylorpress.com. The Baylor University Press production department is the “nuts and bolts” team at the press that works on book files throughout the production process (copyediting, design/layout, proofreading, ebook conversion). The Production Assistant will work alongside BUP’s full-time production staff to assist with general production tasks as needed, perform pre-press quality checks, and format and proofread indexes. The press is a warm and welcoming community committed to your professional development and success. A number of Baylor University Press work study students have obtained full-time positions in publishing after graduation.
Skills/Major/Prerequisites: Applicants should love books and have an interest in the publishing industry. If your definition of fun is proofreading your friends’ papers, this is the job for you. You must have a strong work ethic, high level of attention to detail, excellent spelling and grammar, and experience with Microsoft Word. Familiarity with Adobe programs (Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign) is helpful but not required. Training will be provided. The position is open to students from all majors, but majors in professional writing and English are especially encouraged to apply.Â

Minimum GPA requirement: 3.5
- Provide mid to advanced level administrative and operational support for day-to-day tasks
