SUMMARY
The Electrical Design Modifications Engineer position assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, and administration of assigned projects and engineering changes. Essential responsibilities for this position include providing design products in support of Station priorities and operations and maintenance organization needs. The design products are essential to address degraded/non-conforming conditions and to maintain plant reliability. Engineering deliverables include products such as engineering changes, specifications, calculations, and documented engineering evaluations.
EDUCATION
•   Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. (Required)
EXPERIENCE
•   Engineering levels will be commensurate with the candidate’s educational background, relevant technical experience (including engineering, maintenance, and operations), nuclear power experience, and overall qualifications.
•   Emphasis in Power System Design. (Preferred)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
•   Texas Professional Engineer License. (Preferred)
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical support for operations and maintenance personnel regarding plant systems.
•   Responsible for taking design modifications from conceptual phase through installation and closeout. Example modifications include switchyard improvements, protective relay upgrades, distributed control system upgrades, transformer replacements, and circuit breaker replacements.
•   Collaborate with Key Stakeholders on design modifications.
•   Prepares/reviews complex electrical engineering evaluations and detailed engineering changes to address plant issues.
•   Prepares/reviews degraded/non-conforming component dispositions. Evaluates the extent of the condition and its effect on ability to perform the required design function.
•   Prepares/reviews causal investigations to condition reports for completeness and required actions.
•   Prepares/reviews/approves engineering documentation (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analyses, drawings, evaluations, engineering change packages, etc.).
•   Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports relevant applications to the Station and apply applicable operating experience into the design.
•   Ensures applicable project activities are maintained within allocated schedule and budget.
•   Provide engineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requests for assistance from other site organizations.
•   Support station compliance work activities related to NERC Reliability Standard, Texas RE, and PUCT Texas Administrative Code (TAC) compliance as assigned.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
•   Accept ERO position as needed.
•   Accept outage position as needed.
•   Support rotational engineering duty.
•   Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
•   Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•   Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
•   Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
•   Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
•   Travel may be required.
•   May be required to carry phone.
WORK LOCATION
•   Primarily Onsite – This position is expected to work primarily onsite due to the nature of the role. Limited flexibility for an alternate work location may be available in the future, based on business needs. Any approved alternate work location requires adequate technology and that a solid ergonomic setup is present.
