Job Description

General Project Controls: • Develop draft schedules from Requests for Proposal (RFP) information with minimal guidance from project management • Appraisal of project cost and schedule performance for all assigned projects. • Status, update and report for all project activities • Assist Project Management in developing/reviewing cost and schedule corrective action and recovery plans, and making sure needed actions/plans are implemented • Ensure the Subcontractor’s schedule and cost forecast are aligned • Integrate Subcontractor’s schedules • Review, upgrade as necessary, and approve the Subcontractors schedule control plan • Develop/administer/report owner’s integrated project schedule addressing engineering, procurement, fabrication/construction, installation and startup/commissioning phases as required. • Report and analyze schedule variances against baselines • Appraise Subcontractors progress relative to the schedule and report results to Project Manager. • Raise awareness, take recovery actions and follow up when adverse schedule trends are identified Progress Monitoring: • Establish and maintain project progress measurement systems for assigned projects • Develop/update various Project Controls Progress indicators (% Spent vs. % Complete, Actual Cost vs. Budget, etc.) to assist the Project Manager in evaluation of project health and focus areas • Track and analyze progress variances against baselines • Raise flags, take recovery actions and follow up when adverse progress trends are identified • Review and endorse progress reports by the Subcontractors Cost Tracking and Forecasting: • Develop/administer/report cost tracking/forecasting for assigned projects • Track committed and actual, reconcile actual with estimated cost, develop cost forecast, analyze variations against baselines • Raise flags, take recovery actions and follow up when adverse cost trends are identified • Investigate cost inconsistencies and booked charges as required • Review and integrate with Subcontractors cost reports and expenditures • Assist with blocked invoices
Skills & Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices. • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities as well as an understanding of project finance, accounting or business administration. • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management suite of tools (Primavera). • Possesses strong teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities. • Advanced written and oral communication skills. • Solid ability to oversee multiple projects and fulfill rigid time schedules. • Advanced skill at analyzing issues, thinking strategically, providing direction, and creative solutions. • Demonstrated ability to direct, train, and mentor junior staff members.
Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus sixteen (16) years of relevant experience • Associate degree plus thirteen (13) years of relevant experience • Bachelor's degree plus ten (10) years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of construction scheduling logic • Extensive Primavera (P6) experience

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
