The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer (MDE) at Flexicon is a specialized Systems Project Engineer focused on the comprehensive integration of bulk material handling technologies. While Product Development Engineers (PDE) focus on granular component and R&D, and the separate Applications Engineering department provides internal sales support, the MDE owns the technical execution of the full project lifecycle. They are the primary authority on system-level physical integrity, ensuring that the full breadth of Flexicon’s product lines are engineered to function as a unified, site-specific solution.  This role is an advanced-level role leading the system integration of major projects and serving as a technical resource for the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the engineering design and system integration of high-value, complex customer projects.
  • Perform advanced simulations to validate system integrity under varied loading conditions.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific documentation using current standards (e.g., "Documentation as Code" / Markdown to HTML).
  • Proactively resolve technical friction points between Engineering, Controls, Applications, and Manufacturing.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Associates Degree or applicable experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) or related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years.
