Veterinarian Animal Care

Maui Humane Society is an open-admissions animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. We provide veterinary and routine care and help surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, education and outreach, programs to retain pets in their families, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. We're excited to welcome you as our next Veterinary Animal Care & Enrichment Specialist. In this role you will support the routine medical needs and document animal health records for the thousands of animals that get treatment in our shelter every year.

What you'll be doing (with a team and training):

• Assisting with routine and minor health examinations
• Transporting animals throughout the shelter
• Facilitating intake assessments
• Providing medications and other minor medical support
• Providing routine care (cleaning, food and water, exercise) for hospital patients

To be successful in this role you'll need to have (minimum qualifications):

• Experience in professional animal handling
• Familiarity with animal diseases and behavior
• Experience in veterinary medicine support

We'd love it if you already had (desired qualifications):

• Experience in shelter databases (PetPoint preferred)
• Experience in veterinary medicine databases
• Fear Free Certification
• Experience as a veterinary assistant
• Experience in veterinary medicine in a shelter or ER environment
