| Overall Purpose of the Position: | The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the provider and/or nursing staff with all aspects of patient care. |
| Major Job Responsibilities: | Percentage: |
| 1. Able to process patients for examination by the provider by obtaining vital signs and history. Documents the encounter in the EMR. Assists provider/nursing staff with procedures and treatments as necessary. 2. Gives injections, administers oral medications, and performs limited treatments as indicated by, and under the supervision of the provider. | 40% |
| 3. Assists in preparing information for patient appointments; such as labs, hospital reports, referrals and notes. Able to complete office forms and documents. 4. Assist in the maintenance of electronic medical record (EMR). Scans documents as required. | 20% |
| 5. Keeps all treatment areas and nurse’s stations neat and clean at all times; orders all medical and clerical supplies and keeps the office stocked within designated par levels; cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization as necessary. | 20% |
| 6. Answers incoming phone calls and transfers the calls as needed. Takes prescription (RX) messages, identifies and verifies information needed to schedule appointment requests. Assist with follow appointments or referrals. | 5% |
| 7. Works to help our patients and family members have a good experience. Takes initiative in problem solving, maintains confidentiality of patient and company information, and interacts with patients, co-workers, and management in a courteous and respectful manner. | 5% |
| 8. All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned. | 5% |
| 9. Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on a timely basis, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. | 2.5% |

| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| Education/Experience: | High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a nine-month Medical Assistant course required. CPR/BLS Card required |
| Skills/Knowledge: | Must be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time; possesses strong telephone skills |
| Desired/Preferred Qualifications: | Demonstrates effective communication and telephone skills; computer literacy preferred. |
| Equipment Use: | Personal computer, multi-line telephone, fax machine/copier, Medical equipment – i.e. BP cuff, pulse oximetry, EKG machine, glucometer, wheelchair. |
| Characteristics: | Physically fit to perform the duties of the position; Willingly participates as a member of the nursing team; possesses effective organizational skills and maintains a “can-do” attitude. |
| Environmental Factors: | Walking (85%); sitting (15%); lifts 25 lbs. with occasional heavier loads. |
| Hourly Rate: | MA starting @ $23.72 / CA starting @ $19.58; based on experience |
