Senior Heavy Equipment Operator
Primary Responsibilities:   Operate, maintain, transport and is responsible for gasoline and/or diesel driven tractors and large equipment requiring a special license on the public highway. Perform tasks of average difficulty with some independent judgement. Keep equipment clean and serviced. Report any mechanical problems. May assist in servicing the equipment. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties:
- Operate large equipment i.e. refuse dumpster or transport requiring special license on the public highway.
- Clean and wash equipment.
- Perform tasks as instructed by supervisor.
- Report any mechanical problems.
- Schedule equipment for regular service and keeps a maintenance log.
- Refuels equipment.
- Do regular equipment check according to resort procedures.
- Load and haul sand, soil, cinder, etc. needed to repair or maintain golf course or grounds.
- Adhere to highway laws and regulations when operating the vehicle on public or private roads.
- Perform duties following safety procedures and policies.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner
- Assist in special projects.
- Perform duties of lower rated positions in the department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Other Duties:
- Assist other positions in the department.
- Keep work area and golf course clean; pick-up rubbish.
- May direct lower rated positions in the department.
Working Conditions:Â
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
Work Hours:
- Must be able to work shift and days determined by the manager.
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week, when needed.
Equipment Use:
- Utility vehicle
- May operate one or more of the following equipment: backhoe, refuse dumpster, transport, tree trimmer boom truck and other large equipment.
- May operate one or more of the following equipment; rough mower, fairway mower, triplex mower or sprayer.
- Various power equipment such as air cushion mower weedeater, edger, blower and power saw.
- Various landscape maintenance hand tools such as shears, pick, weeder, lopper, hand saw, rake, water hose shovel and hedge trimmer.
Mental and Physical Demands:
- Ability to work outdoors in the sun and/or wind for most of shift.
- Ability to climb in/out of equipment, sit and drive equipment while operating gears and foot pedals during most of shift.
- Ability to use hand and power tools when assisting other positions.Â
- Ability to operate equipment used by equipment operators.
- Bend and stoop to inspect vehicles and equipment.
- Able to lift, carry, push or pull up to and over 50 lbs. of tools, equipment or other supplies
Communication Demands:
- Must have the ability to communicate verbally to employees and manager.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Special CDL license required to operate large equipment on the public highway.
- 3 years' work-related experience.
- Driver’s safety certification required by DOT
- Must provide a valid driver's license and a clean driving abstract (no moving violations in the past 3 years).
