Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.


Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position reports directly to Rod Nixon

Drives manure tractors trucks, loads, hauls and spreads manure, logging all loads. Completes daily equipment inspections. Assists other departments such as maintenance, house people, and manure drivers.

Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works on scheduled days as directed, in relation to production scheduling and or time volunteered for. This being in relation to attendance policy and or guidelines.
  • Drives manure tractors trucks, loads, hauls and spreads manure according to EPA guidelines by logging all loads. Responsible for completing a "Manure Load" form for accounting department to invoice customers, form includes customer name, date spread, and number of loads delivered.
  • Required to assist the Manure Maintenance department with daily maintenance, cleaning, and repairs of all manure handling equipment when not driving.
  • Assists drivers and or House People with maintenance issues as needed and or as directed.
  • Driver is required to cover all out going loads to insure waste product is not lost during trip. This also includes insuring that their trailer is not leaking any liquid waste as well.
  • Driver is required to regularly clean their truck cabs and trailers as needed in the appropriate truck cleaning areas.
  • Any damages or need for repairs are to be brought to the attention of the truck mechanic and Maintenance Lead immediately.
  • Daily equipment inspection before use each day. This relates to things such as fluid levels, air pressure, greasing, proper licensing of equipment for over the road use, availability and functionality of fire extinguisher in cab and other related items.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to communicate in English

 

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

 

EDUCATION:

Less than high school education.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
