Shop Helper

Summary:

Prepares site for daily work, performs all housekeeping and duties necessary for daily activities. Preferred minimum of 6 months documented field experience in chosen craft discipline. Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Responsibilities:

• Sets up andoperatesproduction equipmentin accordance withestablished guidelines andprocedures.
• Adjust machine settings to complete tasks according tospecification, accurately andin a timelymanner.
• Move hand and foot levers to control diesel, electric, gasoline or steam-powered operatingequipment.
• Interprets hand signals todeterminewhere materials are to beplaced.
• May berequiredto manipulate equipment onunlevelworkingsurface.
• Mayassistin lifting,positioning,and securingourmaterials and work pieces duringinstallation.
• Maybe responsible forroutine maintenance orrepairs.
• Observes load hook up anddeterminessafetyofload.
• Manipulates crane control to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement   according to written, verbal or signalinstructions.
• Inspects crane for defective parts, documents and notifies the supervisor of the defects ormalfunctions.
• Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools,equipment,and supplies
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
• May berequiredto interpret loadcharts.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. 
• Works under minimum supervision. 
• Typicallyreports to a supervisor.
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. 

Education and Experience:

• May require a high school diploma orits equivalentand previous years of related experience.
