New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a GIS Technician I to maintain and update an accurate geographic information system (GIS) mapping of the Company’s physical gas distribution system assets. Support Engineering staff and other business units with the creation of high-quality construction drawings and maps for construction and field operations efforts.
Major Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain the company’s natural gas facilities maps and detail records in GIS.
- Support construction-based activities including field investigations and GPS data collection.
- Produce high-quality construction and technical drawings using AutoCAD, from field conditions, design sketches and construction plans, according to departmental drafting standards.
- Provide mark-up drawings for municipalities and engineering firms regarding the type of facilities located within outside project limits.
- Produce high-quality map products for presentations, meetings, public usage and departments.
- Update and maintain the company’s critical valve and regulator station drawing manuals.
- Any other duties and responsibilities determined appropriate by departmental management.
Position Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in computer aided drafting or technical drawing, or a minimum of three years of GIS experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS version 10 Desktop, especially the ability to perform detailed digitizing and editing of data in a geometric network is preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge and skill in the operation of GPS equipment and peripherals is preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD 2022 or greater) and ArcFM preferred
- Ability to work well independently and establish effective working relationships with others
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Must be able to perform close-up work, such as digitizing and perform limited physical field work

Other Details:
Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $47,000-61,000.
Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.
This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program.
