About Us:

Welcome to Advance Plumbing & Heating Supply Company, a fourth-generation family owned and operated business, started in 1920. The company's original location was at 2984 Grand River Ave. in Detroit, across from the Motor City Casino. On October 31st, 2016 we moved to our new location at 150 Parsons St. in Midtown Detroit. The new state-of-the-art location features the City of Detroit's first ever Decorative Plumbing Showroom which opened in winter of 2018.


In 1990, with a solid reputation for excellence and an expanding market, Advance opened up a second location in Walled Lake, Michigan which features a state-of-the-art 5,000-square foot decorative plumbing showroom and an outstanding plumbing & heating parts counter.


What You’ll Do:

We are looking for a friendly, informative, and welcoming Customer Service Specialist to join our growing company. This position gives you an opportunity to help customers with your service mindset and your drive to be accountable to a team that’s counting on you. You’ll excel with organizational skills and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Primary responsibilities of the Customer Service Specialist include answering all phone calls, providing support with customer or supplier inquiries and performing administrative work related to invoices, receipts, purchase orders, shipping information, and filing.


Some Duties May Include: 

o Answering phone calls and directing to relevant parties 

o Supporting customer inquiries such as order status checks, warranty issues or other product support

o Utilize listening skills and probing questions to identify the customer’s concern and evaluate their needs

o Escalate customer quality issues to the relevant stakeholders throughout organization

o Contact customer once order is completed to schedule deliveries

o Partner with logistics team to meet customer delivery requirements

o Contact suppliers to receive status checks on purchase orders

o Conduct quality verifications on purchase orders such as model number and price 

o Attend product knowledge training provided by organization or vendors

o Utilize internal ERP system for information such as customer information, inventory, PO

o Be willing to study and gain product knowledge on a large catalog of items

o Perform clerical duties such as file management and organization

o Assist the Customer Service Manager with other duties as assigned

Requirements

o Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities

o Be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, in a customer focused role, while having a high attention to detail and speed

o Prior experience handling a multi-line phone system

o Basic computer experience such as Microsoft Office, Point-of-Sale and/or another internal database software

Requirements: 

o High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
