Working under general supervision, operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patient's body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist. This is a regular full-time graveyard position that requires the ability to travel to other facility locations for staffing coverage as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – other duties may be assigned
- Reviews MRI orders to ensure the procedure ordered aligns with patient history and clinical indications, seeks clarity from patient’s provider or radiologist if there is a discrepancy.
- Assists in the evaluation of MRI safety, contraindications, and scanning procedures for implanted devices, documenting research time if required.
- Checks and reviews of prior studies.
- Interviews patient, explains procedures, prepares patient for exam, screens patient for contradictions, and transfers patient to exam area.
- Follows site standard protocol and confers with Radiologist regarding symptoms/findings and protocols.
- Assists patient on and off the examination table.
- Determines most suitable coil(s), and positioning devices to obtain imaging of the specified area of body requested by physician.
- Selects proper pulse sequences and factors such as TR, TE, flip angles, matrix, slice direction, slice position, slice thickness, gap and other technical factors based on the patents suspected pathology, physical condition, and adheres to established facility protocol Â
- Draws-up contrast materials and prepares sterile trays.
- Assists radiologist in biopsies and procedures as required.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and other medications as required under the direction of the Radiologist.
- Assists with injections and ensures patient safety by following all protocols regarding the use of the pressure injector.
- Follows appropriate procedures for patient care and documentation of contrast reactions.
- Operate MRI equipment to image designated portions of the body.
- Performs MR exams on inpatient and outpatient populations as required
- Manages stressful and emergency situations with a calm, rational demeanor.
- Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Manages company email account and company intranet, as relevant to the position.
- Adheres to and support company policies regarding dress code, smoking, meals, and rest breaks.
- Travels to other facility locations for staffing coverage as needed.
- Sets up and maintains paper and/or computer records as required.
- Operates all relevant equipment and computer applications.
- Practices safety procedures.
- Maintains and cleans equipment and work area.
- Performs routine quality assurance checks on equipment.
- Demonstrates age-related concerns in imaging for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Assists with training and orientation of new technologists, technicians, technologist assistants, and other support staff as required.
- Assists the Site Director and lead with other duties as required.
- Fills in for receptionist as required.
- Complies with Joint Commission and CDPH standards.Â

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSÂ
- Required upon hire and for duration of employment:
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology Advanced MRI certification ARRT (MR) OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification
- Current CPR/BLS certificate (Healthcare Provider)
- Advanced Venipuncture Techniques for Contrast Media Administration, within 90 days of hire date.
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary range: $62.39 - $77.62
