Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians also submit prior authorizations, appeals, patient assistance applications, and other related paperwork. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Technicians interact with patients, family and other health care providers as appropriate and under strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines. Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent - Required College Level Coursework - Preferred Completion of accredited Pharmacy Technician Program - Preferred Coursework Mathematics - Preferred Coursework Typing - Preferred Coursework General Science - Preferred Experience: 2 years Pharmacy - Infusion Pharmacy or Inpatient Pharmacy Experience - Preferred Experience with compounding parenteral Hazardous and Non - Hazardous - Preferred Certifications/Licensures: Pharmacy Tech - California Board of Pharmacy - Required CPhT Certification - required for existing grandfathered employees as of January 1, 2025 CPhT certification is required within six months of notice.
