Job Purpose

We are seeking a Functional Test Lead with 8+ years of experience to drive the quality strategy for large-scale, mission-critical utility systems. In this role, you will lead the functional validation of complex "Meter-to-Cash" workflows, ensuring seamless integration between AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), billing engines, and field service operations. You will be responsible for defining test strategies that bridge the gap between technical system behavior and real-world utility business processes for gas and electric services.

Key Accountabilities

• Test Strategy & Leadership: Lead the end-to-end functional testing strategy for Front Office (Customer Portals, CRM) and Back Office (Billing, Invoicing, Financials) systems.

• AMI & Metering Validation: Act as the subject matter expert for AMI testing, validating the functional flow of interval data from gas and electric smart meters through the Head-End System (HES) to Meter Data Management (MDM).

• Work Order Process Testing: Oversee the validation of work order lifecycles, ensuring correct orchestration of meter installations, maintenance, and emergency service orders across gas and electric divisions.

• Billing & Rating Accuracy: Lead the functional verification of complex rating engines and tariff structures to ensure 100% billing accuracy across residential and industrial customer classes.

• End-to-End Integration Testing: Manage the functional testing of touchpoints between the Customer Information System (CIS), GIS, and Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) tools to ensure data integrity.

• Defect & Story Governance: Manage the full lifecycle of functional test stories and defects using JIRA and XRAY, coordinating with cross-functional product teams to resolve business-critical blockers.

• Business Process Mapping: Translate complex utility regulatory requirements into comprehensive test scenarios and acceptance criteria.

Qualifications

Domain & Technical Expertise (7-10 Years Experience)

• Utilities Sector Mastery: Deep knowledge of utility business processes, including billing cycles, credit/collections, and regulatory compliance for gas and electric utilities.

• Core Utility Platforms: Proven experience testing Tier 1 Customer Information Systems (CIS) such as Oracle CC&B (Customer Care and Billing), Oracle CCS (Customer Cloud Service), or Salesforce Energy & Utilities Cloud.

• Advanced Metering (AMI): Strong understanding of smart meter provisioning, remote disconnect/reconnect workflows, and "last gasp" notification testing.

• Operational Workflows: Hands-on experience validating Field Activity logic, including technician dispatching and real-time status updates from mobile field tools.

• Data-Driven Validation: Proficiency in using SQL or Snowflake to perform back-end data validation for billing extracts and meter read synchronization.

• Testing Infrastructure: Expert-level user of JIRA and XRAY for test management, with experience in managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and regression suites.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Experience Profile: 8+ years of total experience, with a proven track record of leading functional testing teams for large-scale utility transformation projects.
