Position Summary:

The Payroll Compliance Specialist is part of the organization's payroll team and provides assistance on payroll operations activities and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, and company policies. This role assists with payroll audits, maintains compliance documentation, monitors regulatory changes, and partners with Human Resources, Finance, Benefits, Legal and Payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. The Payroll Compliance Specialist interacts both internally and externally as a representative of the Payroll Team..
 
Responsibilities:
  • Complete payroll processing activities to ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws and regulations, including reporting 
  • Review payroll transactions for accuracy, including employee earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, and garnishments  
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure documentation complies with company policies and record retention requirements  
  • Participate in payroll audits and compliance reviews by preparing reports, documentation, and supporting records  
  • Monitor and research payroll regulations and assist with implementing changes resulting from multi-state payroll requirements, new legislation or company policy updates  
  • Conduct payroll tax reconciliations and support quarterly and annual tax reporting activities  
  • Monitor payroll inbox, investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and tax notices  
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Benefits, and external payroll vendors to resolve payroll compliance issues  
  • Support payroll system testing, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives, including updating and maintaining documentation  

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 5+ years human resources, accounting, or payroll compliance experience, or equivalent experience  
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, payroll tax requirements, and wage and hour laws  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications  
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills  
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion  
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $97,000 - $119,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.     

Ardelyx also offers a robust benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with generous employer match, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks of living organ and bone marrow leave, equity incentive plans, health plans (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision), life insurance and disability, flexible time off, annual Winter Holiday shut down, and at least 11 paid holidays.
