Sonic Summary

info
  • AT Process Technologies (ATP) is seeking a Test Engineer to join their engineering team focused on developing modular energetics production systems.
  • The role involves translating reaction chemistry into test protocols and ensuring that reactors perform safely and predictably, requiring a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Key responsibilities include owning test planning and execution, designing test protocols, and documenting results in an audit-ready environment.
  • The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with process instrumentation and a strong understanding of reaction chemistry and safety standards.
  • Salary details are not specified, but candidates must be U.S. persons eligible to obtain a security clearance due to ITAR requirements.

AT Process Technologies (ATP) is a pioneering manufacturing company focused on the development and deployment of modular energetics production plants. Using breakthrough chemistry and automation that operates continuously and generates little to no waste, ATP is expanding energetics production to meet the munitions demands of the US and Allies safely, rapidly, and cost effectively.

Summary

ATP is building a core team of engineers to develop the autonomous skidded production systems that will redefine how energetics are manufactured. As our Test Engineer, you will be the primary interface between our Chemistry team and hardware - translating reaction chemistry into test protocols, validating that our reactors and process modules perform safely and predictably against the chemistry's requirements. The ideal candidate has previously owned test execution on hazardous or safety-critical chemical hardware end-to-end and is comfortable working shoulder-to-shoulder with chemists to bridge bench-scale reaction data and full-scale process performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own test planning and execution for ATP's reactors and modular process systems, from bench-scale trials through pilot and production-scale testing

  • Work directly with the Process Development team to translate reaction requirements, kinetics, and safety envelopes into test protocols and acceptance criteria

  • Design and run test protocols to validate process performance, yield, and safety margins under real operating conditions

  • Instrument test setups with sensors for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and concentration; capture and analyze data acquisition results

  • Execute hardware-in-the-loop testing, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing on skidded process modules

  • Identify chemistry-driven failure modes and safety risks during testing; drive root cause analysis on test anomalies

  • Validate safety systems, interlocks, and fail-safe behavior under upset and off-nominal reaction conditions

  • Document test procedures, results, and deviations with the rigor required for a hazardous-chemistry, audit-ready environment

  • Feed test data and hands-on observations back to Chemistry and Process teams to refine reaction and design parameters

  • Support commissioning and startup of production systems at ATP and customer sites

  • Contribute to test plans, technical documentation, and engineering reviews

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 3+ years of professional experience in test engineering, process validation, or a comparable hands-on hardware role interfacing with chemistry

  • Demonstrated experience owning test execution end-to-end, from protocol design through data analysis and reporting

  • Working knowledge of reaction chemistry, kinetics, and how they translate to process operating envelopes

  • Hands-on experience with process instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and test equipment

  • Ability to work hands-on in laboratory, fabrication, and plant environments with hazardous materials

  • Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot hardware and process issues quickly and rigorously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing chemical processes, batch processes, or other hazardous-chemistry systems

  • Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems and reading control logic relevant to test execution

  • Experience with statistical analysis or data tools (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for test data analysis

  • Familiarity with safety and reliability standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508, or similar)

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, energetics, or other regulated manufacturing environments

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance

  • Ability to work on-site and travel as needed

Export Control Requirements

This position may require access to information or technology subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Accordingly, employment may be conditioned upon the ability to obtain any export authorization required for this role. Non-U.S. persons are not automatically excluded from consideration; if an export license is required, the company will evaluate the feasibility of obtaining one for the selected candidate. If required, citizenship information will be collected as part of the standard background check process, and a separate export compliance review will be conducted for this position prior to the start date, independent of the Form I-9 employment eligibility verification process.
