Boston Dynamics is seeking a talented, self-motivated, hands-on co-op to assist with the development, production, and testing of its robots and test infrastructure.

For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on YouTube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics. 

The Team:

As a Technical Operations Co-op, you aren’t siloed into one corner of the lab. You are part of a cross-functional hardware team where Industrial, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering converge. You will work alongside mentors to optimize how we build, how we test, and how we scale our robots.

 Day to day activities:

  • Support time studies to predict production output, identify bottlenecks, and derive solutions.

  • Support the analysis of material and information flow to maximize efficiency.

  • Support new of updated floor layouts

  • Development, repair and installation of test fixtures

  • Build, repair, and rework of test stands, robot assemblies and test cable assemblies

  • Help produce and update assembly and test documentation

  • Support testing of robot sub-assemblies and data collection

  • Debug and analyze failures from mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies of robotic systems

  • Support analysis of internal product failures and report quality trends to design engineers

Desired skills:

  • Current student enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or relevant fields.

  • Familiar with mechanical 3D CAD tools - Catia, SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred

  • Familiar with performing testing on PCBAs or electro-mechanical assemblies using automated software tools/diags running on Linux and Windows OS

  • Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab, Labview).

  • Able to read mechanical assembly drawings

  • Able to interpret electrical schematics

  • Hands-on experience assembling, repairing, reworking, and testing electromechanical assemblies

  • Knowledge of robotics concepts and technologies (involvement with First Robotics, VEX Robotics, and/or kit projects).

The base pay range for this position is between $30 to $35 hourly. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
