The Systems Verification, Validation & Testing (V,V,&T) Department on the Boston Dynamics Atlas product program seeks an experienced Manager of Test Programs to help verify and validate the most capable humanoid robot system in the world.

We are seeking a hands-on Manager of Test Programs to be part of our future, as we continue to lead the world in robotic innovation. This Manager will be working side-by-side with our systems test engineers to test, validate, and qualify both hardware and firmware.

How you will make an Impact:

  • Recruit, coach, lead, & develop a high-performing team of test engineers and technicians.

  • Develop Design Verification Plans for hardware and firmware through coordination with cross disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Perform data analysis, root cause issues, and suggest design improvements

  • Lead the execution of Design Verification Testing, reliability, and compliance testing to the highest standards of critical robot systems and sub-systems, ensuring robust performance

  • Lead the creation of a world class reporting system ensuring clear, accurate, and timely communication of test status and results to all stakeholders. 

  • Be a vocal proponent for quality, both internally and as a representative of our company

  • Drive system integration and test activities by contributing to test execution, debugging, and devising innovative solutions to complex challenges.

  • Support travel to off-site facilities (expected <10%)
     

Required Skills:

  • At least five years of experience in test engineering, with at least two years in people management.

  • Resource planning, credibly advocating needs to leadership, and executing according to plan

  • Hands-on experience testing with and debugging electro-mechanical products and test setups.

  • Familiarity with different forms of test including HALT, HASS, HIL, EVT, DVT.

  • Experience with DFMEA and risk management.

  • Experience with lab equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, thermal chambers, and dynamometers.

  • Experience with compliance testing including conducted/radiated emissions and safety.

  • Experience with Python, and command-line operations in a UNIX-like OS.

  • Be able to multitask, and change priorities quickly as needed.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, conflict management, and communication skills, especially with  test results and data.

  • Project Management tools, such as SmartSheets and Jira.
     

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with motor drives or actuator technologies.

  • Familiarity with position encoder and force sensor technology.

  • Familiarity testing high-speed interfaces.

  • Experience with functional safety.

  • Experience working with robots and/or robotic systems.

  • Experience with Jira, JAMA, and Testrails.

  • Experience with technical writing, presentation, and design reviews.

  • Data analysis & visualization.

  • Failure Analysis.

The base pay range for this position is between $134,000 to $165,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience.  This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
