Location: Nederland, Colorado

Eldora is the backyard winter mountain playground for Greater Denver, Boulder County, and Colorado's northern Front Range. Eldora is located just outside of the charming mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, about 20 miles west of Boulder and less than 50 miles from downtown Denver.

Position Summary: Assistant Snowmaking Manager is responsible for assisting the Snowmaking Manager in the day-to-day operations of the department.  These responsibilities include hiring and training staff, planning, and implementing operational logistics, operation and troubleshooting of snowmaking equipment, management of crews to meet production goals and assessing trails throughout the snowmaking process.  Summer responsibilities include system maintenance and work on capital improvement projects.  We are looking for someone who possess a positive attitude, good leadership ability and attention to detail.  We are also looking for experienced snowmakers for other leadership roles on our crew.  

 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: 

  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment  

  • Experience with a variety of snowmaking equipment, including A/W ground guns  

  • Familiarity with snowmaking pumps and compressors 

  • Is honest and has the highest integrity- is able to handle and manage confidential information. 

  • Follows established policies and procedures.  

  • Is comfortable to challenge established policies and procedures, but once established, is supportive of those rules.  

  • Is organized in tasks.  Sees projects through to the finish.  Has good follow-through and makes it a habit of getting back to people on issues.  

  • Can handle fast paced, potentially high-pressure environment.  

  • Passionate about supporting Eldora’s “Play Forever” initiative, promoting environmental protection, and community engagement. 

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Specific Job Skills: 

  • 5+ years of snowmaking experience 

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in mountain operations 

  • Snowcat experience strongly preferred 

  • Expert skier 

  • Experience with a variety of snowmaking equipment, including A/W ground guns 

  • Experience with snowmaking pumps and compressors 

  • Experience with summer snowmaking maintenance and installation preferred 

  • A valid Driver’s License the ability to pass background & MVR checks that meet company standards 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to work outside in a mountain environment during harsh conditions  

  • Ability to walk through deep snow while carrying heavy equipment and tools (50+ pounds)  

  • Ability to move large volumes of snow with a shovel 

  • Must have a willingness to work 12-hour shifts, day or night

  • Scheduling and assigning work 

  • Salary actions 

  • Training, disciplinary actions, performance reviews 

  • Hiring & terminations 

 

Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $63,000+ year, depending on experience. 

Benefits: This position is a year-round salaried and includes an outstanding benefit package.
