A Day in the Life:

As a QA Technician, you play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our canola products. You will perform analytical testing on canola seed, oil, and meal products, providing accurate and timely results that support production, quality assurance, and customer requirements. Through your attention to detail and commitment to safety, you will help maintain product integrity and support the efficient operation of the facility.

Position Details:

  • Hourly Pay Rate: Starting at $21 per hour

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, rotating monthly shifts. Employees rotate through the following shifts on a monthly basis: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM (Relief Technician), and 9:30 AM-6:00 PM. Occasional Saturday work may be required as needed.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform routine analytical testing on incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure specifications are met.

  • Communicate test results to management and/or the Shift Supervisor, promptly reporting any issues or concerns.

  • Accurately record and maintain testing data using computerized laboratory systems.

  • Maintain product samples for verification and quality control purposes.

  • Prepare chemical reagents and ensure laboratory supplies and chemicals are adequately stocked.

  • Complete certificates of analysis and verify shipping inspection records before product shipment.

  • Conduct required inspections to meet regulatory, food safety, and company standards.

  • Perform laboratory equipment calibrations and maintain calibration records.

  • Operate laboratory instrumentation, perform quality checks, and conduct minor troubleshooting as needed.

  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment through daily housekeeping and adherence to safety procedures.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related laboratory, quality assurance, or analytical testing experience.

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree (2-year college or technical program) in Science or a related field preferred.

  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and interpret test results.

  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with computerized data entry and laboratory systems.

  • Ability to conduct sensory analysis and evaluate product quality.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

  • Routine use of a respirator is required.

  • Must be able to work safely in a laboratory and industrial production environment.
