Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates, material take-offs, and project quotations for customers and internal teams. This role works closely with sales staff, vendors, project managers, and customers to ensure estimates align with project specifications, budgets, and company profitability goals. The Estimator plays a key role in supporting sales growth while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare detailed estimates and quotations.
  • Perform material take-offs for lumber, millwork, building materials, windows, doors, kitchens, and related construction products.
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages within required timelines.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives, project managers, and customers to clarify project details and specifications.
  • Recommend alternative products or value-engineering solutions when appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date pricing information, product knowledge, and vendor relationships.
  • Track and follow up on submitted estimates and bids.
  • Ensure estimates meet company margin objectives and pricing guidelines.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, plans, quotations, and project documentation.
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, estimating software, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of product samples or materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to visit job sites, warehouses, or customer locations as needed.

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional visits to job sites, retail locations, warehouses, or customer project locations.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4;30 PM
