General Summary: 

This position will be performed at our Georgia Technical Operation Center (GTOC), which has 60,000 square feet of office, lab, and shop space. Our GTOC has state of the art capabilities and services staffed with more than 35 engineers, scientists and technicians. This individual will be responsible for performing analytical testing and evaluation of various chemistries/processes in support of chemical related projects for one or more of the following: Aircraft Systems, Aircraft Structures, Engine and Propeller, Landing Gear, Aircraft MRO Activities, and Material & Processing R&D (including but not limited to brush plating/anodizing, electroplating, thermal spray (HVOF and cold spray), Pulse Waterstrip, laser, surface preparation, and other related process. 

The individual must be knowledgeable and proficient with analytical test equipment for generating, interpreting, and presenting data in support of various R&D project related work to upper management. He or she must demonstrate the ability to apply basic principles of chemistry and related disciplines to problem solving applications in a team-oriented work environment; the ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of chemical requirements, including inventory, storage, and waste disposal, and testing procedures as it relates to Aircraft Structures, Landing Gear Systems, Engine and propeller systems; perform review of detailed manufacturing plans, drawings, and qualification test plans; conduct corrosion and chemical testing, chemical and environmental analysis for M&P development; and have excellent communication and writing skills. 

The individual must be able to interact with, engineers, subcontractors, team members, and customers in a collaborative manner, which is easy to do here in Middle Georgia. In fact, Warner Robins, Georgia is known as one of the best places to live in Georgia with beautiful parks, suburban communities, and a large Aviation community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, Qualification, Corrosion, Chemical and Mechanical Lab Testing (Hydrogen Embrittlement, Adhesion, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, Titration, Corrosion, Fluid Compatibility, Analytical Testing, etc.)
  • Perform material and process operations and related development tasks and analysis
  • Conduct complex analysis and evaluation of surfaces, coatings, electroplated deposits and other surface modification technologies to evaluate and measure performance capabilities under operational conditions.
  • Technical Data Publication and Review
  • Report Generation and Publication
  • Inventory, storage, and disposal of chemicals and lab supplies
  • Hazardous Waste coordination with managers and subcontractors
  • General upkeep and maintenance of the lab area and equipment
  • Perform other duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Technical Writing
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus
  • Chemical testing and analysis 
  • Material, Corrosion and Environmental Analysis a plus
  • Analytical Techniques a plus
  • Hazardous Waste training/management a plus

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree- Chemistry from an ABET accredited university or college. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Entry Level to 15 years of related experience
  • Aerospace Industry experience a plus

Other Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates will be required to participate in a background investigation and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel if required.
