Work Shift:
Night - 8 Hour (United States of America)The Phlebotomist performs various technical and clerical procedures within the clinical laboratory. Ensures continuity of workflow between patient and laboratory. Responsible for processing all patients who come to the laboratory for clinical tests. Ensures that patient samples are adequate in amount and that integrity of the sample is maintained. Prepares specimens for referral to reference laboratories and various departments of the laboratory. These procedures exclude any which are performed only by licensed personnel under state licensure regulations.Qualifications:
A. Education & Training:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
B. Experience:
None.
C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Completion of a basic venipuncture course.
D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Utilizes a variety of venipuncture and capillary equipment and supplies. Utilizes centrifuge for
separation of serum and/or plasma from cells. Knowledge of medical terminology appropriate
for scope of duties. Computer skills and knowledge; good communication skills; ability to
perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately. Utilizes office equipment such as fax
machine, copier, telephone, file cabinets, computers, printers, etc.
