About the Role:

At General Motors, we’re redefining the future of mobility—and that starts with how we design and engineer our vehicles. We are seeking motivated, forward-thinking Design Release Engineers to help shape the next generation of vehicle structures.

In this role, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of components within Body/Chassis structures, driving design, development, validation, and launch across the full vehicle lifecycle. You’ll work on highly visible programs, partnering cross-functionally to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that meet performance, cost, and timing targets.

If you’re energized by solving complex engineering challenges and want to make a direct impact on production vehicles, this is an opportunity to grow your technical depth and influence within a global engineering organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the design release and execution of body/chassis structure components from concept through production

  • Lead technical development for components and/or new technologies within vehicle programs

  • Drive engineering decisions by balancing performance, cost, weight, and timing

  • Conduct design analysis and validate designs through testing and development activities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design studio, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and suppliers

  • Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, and production launch activities

  • Identify and implement product improvements and cost reduction opportunities

  • Ensure components meet GM technical standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations

  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to leadership and stakeholders

  • Familiarity with advanced materials (e.g., high-strength steel, alloys) and manufacturing processes

  • Understanding of FMVSS crash and regulatory requirements

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills

Why Join GM

  • Work on cutting-edge vehicle programs that reach customers globally

  • Gain end-to-end product ownership and exposure to full vehicle development cycles
