JOB PURPOSE 

 

The Employment Support Specialist provides direct support, coaching, and training to individuals with disabilities at community-based job sites. This role focuses on job readiness, skill development, and workplace integration, ensuring a positive and supportive employment experience. 


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct, on-the-job coaching and support.
  • Assist individuals in learning job tasks, workplace expectations, and social skills.
  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and reinforcement.
  • Support individuals in developing soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork.
  • Monitor and document individual progress, challenges, and support strategies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with employers, families, and support teams.
  • Ensure individual safety and compliance with workplace policies.
  • Advocate for reasonable workplace accommodations as needed.

All other duties assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur’s license within 14 days of hire.
  • Successfully complete employment-related training as directed. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel between job sites and community locations with RISE vehicles.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and engaging in physical activities at work sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently and perform team lifts when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including mornings and afternoons, based on program needs.
