Description
PURPOSE STATEMENT Â
Perform ultrasonic diagnostic and vascular procedures under the supervision of a registered Ultrasound Technologist.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The student will be scheduled to work only when another Registered Ultrasound Technologist is on-dutyÂ
- Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Position patient select appropriate transducer, depending upon depth of field, structure to be identified, etc. Â
- Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment. Move scanner over specified body area, adjust equipment to focus. Â
- Provide radiologist with good history for diagnosis.
- Enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS
- Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Maintain department records (patient/other), reports, and files as required.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Keep work area clean, alert department director to equipment malfunctions, etc.
- Attend in services and other meetings as required.Â
- Can send images to cloud system
- Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Enrolled in an accredited Ultrasound Technology Program
- ARDMS certified or registry eligible.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
- Internship will last no more than 6 months after employment start date
- Current BLS required
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
