Position Overview:

As a private practice Speech Language Pathology Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping clients overcome communication challenges, improve their speech and language skills, and achieve their educational goals. Under the guidance and supervision of licensed Speech Language Pathologists, your work will directly contribute to the success and well-being of students in the private practice environment.

Additional Details: In-Person Role
Requirements: Current Virginia Speech Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology
Expected Hours per week: 7.5 hours a day; 37.5

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program or related field.
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an SLPA.
  • Willing to provide supervision hours for licensing if needed
  • Previous experience as an SLPA in private practice or a pediatric setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, educators, and support staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to assist in managing caseload and documentation.
  • Dedication to providing culturally competent and student-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting speech and language assessments under the direction of licensed Speech Language Pathologists.
  • Provide speech and language therapy interventions, exercises, and activities to support the client's communication, articulation, fluency, and language skills.
  • Support the implementation of treatment plans and carryover of therapy goals
  • Assist in monitoring and documenting the client's progress, communicating findings to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Work with individual students to reinforce therapy techniques and activities.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, including session notes, progress reports, and billing documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and ethical standards governing speech-language pathology assistant services in private practice
