Learn a Skilled Trade Building and Repairing Industrial Electric Motors
Louis Allis manufactures and repairs industrial electric motors used in demanding applications around the world. We're looking for Electric Motor Winders / Motor Rewind Technicians to join our 1st shift team in Warrior, Alabama.
This is a hands-on position where you'll learn and use specialized skills to wind, insulate, connect, repair, and electrically test AC and DC motors.
Experienced motor winders are encouraged to apply. We will also consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude who are interested in learning a specialized skilled trade.
What You'll Do
Depending on your experience and training, you'll work on:
- Preparing AC and DC motor components for rewinding
- Winding and forming motor coils
- Insulating and inserting coils into stators
- Connecting AC stator windings
- Winding and connecting DC armatures and field frames
- Performing electrical testing on AC and DC motors
- Using Meggers, hi-pot testers, ohm meters, bar-to-bar testers, and AC/DC test panels
- Operating VPI systems, burnout and bake ovens, dip tanks, grinders, and other specialized equipment
- Using cranes and forklifts to safely handle motor components
- Performing vibration testing and analysis
- Assisting with occasional field service work at customer locations
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area
Don't have experience with every item listed above? That's okay. We provide training on our equipment, processes, safety procedures, and motor-specific work.
What We're Looking For
You don't have to know everything about electric motors on day one. We're looking for people who:
- Have good mechanical aptitude
- Enjoy working with their hands and learning new skills
- Pay attention to detail and take pride in quality work
- Can follow written and demonstrated work and safety procedures
- Are dependable and work well as part of a team
- Are willing and able to learn specialized motor winding and testing processes
- Can stand for periods of 3–4 hours
- Can safely lift 30+ lbs.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in electric motor winding, motor repair, electrical work, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical assembly, or a related skilled trade is a plus-but not required for the right candidate.
