What You Can Expect


The Transfer Planning Lead is responsible for developing and assessing manufacturing transfers to support product continuity, operational readiness, and compliant execution across Zimmer Biomet sites, suppliers, and external manufacturing partners. This role drives planning activities for manufacturing transfers including site-to-site, in-sourcing, out -sourcing and external partners to external partners.

How You'll Create Impact

 

  • Develops integrated manufacturing transfer plans, timelines, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies for business case assessment.
  • Assesses transfer scope, product complexity, receiving site readiness, equipment needs, capacity constraints, and resource requirements.
  • Aligns transfer plans with validation, qualification, inspection, packaging, labeling, and sterilization requirements where applicable.
  • Drives portfolio visibility and prioritization by supporting processes and tools used to identify, assess, and select projects with the highest strategic and operational value.
  • Drives risk identification, contingency planning, and escalation for issues that may affect quality, compliance, timeline, or product supply.
  • Supports inventory and supply continuity strategies during transfer planning, including ramp-up and ramp-down planning.
  • Tracks progress against project deliverables and communicating transfer status, risks, and recovery actions to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Facilitates governance reviews, readiness assessments, and lessons learned to improve transfer planning/execution across the organization.

  • Sound understanding of medical device manufacturing operations, manufacturing transfer activities, and cross-functional project planning.
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements, change control, validation, and manufacturing documentation practices in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to evaluate transfer readiness, identify risks, and coordinate mitigation plans across multiple functions.
  • Knowledge of design transfer, process validation, equipment qualification, inspection methods, packaging qualification, and labeling considerations is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of change management, SOPs, engineering specifications, work instructions, and regulated operating practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines, dependencies, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex operational issues with a structured approach.
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate within a cross-functional team to complete critical project tasks.
  • Ability to establish credibility and build effective working relationships across functions, levels, regions, and sites.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills as well as influencing skills with the ability to convey technical and business concepts clearly to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Project knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with ERP, PLM, or other manufacturing systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of design transfer, process validation, equipment qualification, inspection methods, packaging qualification, and labeling considerations is preferred.

Your Background

 

  • Preferred Qualification: B.S. in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Preferred Qualification: At least 6 years of experience in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, operations, technical transfer, supply chain, or project planning.
  • Preferred Qualification: Experience in medical device manufacturing or other regulated industry environments.
  • Preferred Qualification: Experience supporting manufacturing transfers, process changes, or product launches.
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years relevant experience, or Associate's degree and 8 years relevant experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience AMER
  • Lean Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement certification (Preferred)

Travel Expectations

 

  • Minimal travel required up to 10%.


Expected Compensation : 115,000 - 140,000 USD base salary
