• Salary: $75,728 to $77,795 p.a. pro rata plus super and annual leave loading

The Cadet role is based in School Infrastructure, which delivers new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

About the role
As a Cadet with School Infrastructure, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of infrastructure projects that help shape and improve public education across NSW.

You will be supported through a structured program that includes on-the-job learning, mentoring and professional development.

About you
You are motivated, curious and ready to build your career in the infrastructure sector. You bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• You are enrolled in a Diploma or bachelor’s degree in project management or construction management.
• You are committed to working collaboratively, both across government and with our community partners.Â
• You have proven experience of delivering results in a fast-paced environment, particularly through your excellent interpersonal skills.Â
• You can a quickly analyse information, provide advice and have excellent attention to detail. Â
• Intermediate computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Office software applications.
• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role
• Must be under 25 years at the time of application.Â
• Must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate university degree or Diploma level qualification in a related business area.
• Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment.
• Current and valid driver license (above learner level) and willingness and ability to travel to worksites.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the value of public education.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.

Candidates must have Australian work rights (citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens or a valid work visa). Ongoing (permanent) roles are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens, while temporary roles welcome applicants with a visa.
