In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals that cater to the dietary needs of our residents, enhancing their quality of life through exceptional food service. This is a full-time position 30 hours per week, every other weekend. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and quality standards. Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner following food handling regulations. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area. Food safety Manager certification or willingness to obtain Physical demands: Average Maximum Weight: Lift or carry up to 36.6 pounds; institution and cafeteria cooks about 34.3 pounds; short-order cooks around 33.8 pounds. Nature of Lifting: Heavy pots, pans, boxes of ingredients, and bulk food containers are common. Proper lifting techniques are essential to avoid injury. Frequency: Lifting occurs regularly during prep and service, often combined with bending, reaching, and twisting in tight spaces. Other Physical Demands Standing/walking for 90–98% of the workday Repetitive motions (chopping, stirring) Working in hot, crowded environments Risk of burns and cuts Need for stamina and core strength to prevent back strain.
