Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Description

Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for utilizing radiopharmaceuticals to perform diagnostic imaging scanning of specific organs of the body. They are also responsible for quality control and proper handling and disposal of nuclear material in accordance with regulatory bodies.

24 hours per week. Days and hours flexible - no weekends, holidays or on-call

Pay based on experience starting at $35.43

Responsibilities

Accurately prepares injection of doses of radioactive material and administers radioactive material to patient in an appropriate manner., Accurately surveys radioactive shipments and logs results., Actively participates in radioisotope meetings., Assembles and prepares patient information and documentation as required., In accordance with IEMA regulations, performs wipe test and surveys, prepares and logs all radiopharmaceuticals, calculates and logs decayed dosage times, performs resolution check of camera, stores low level radioactive material and disposes of decayed material., Orders radiopharmaceuticals as needed in a timely and accurate manner., Performs necessary checks of equipment including dose calibrator and records data in accordance with the policies and procedures., Performs procedures in accordance with rules and regulations set forth by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)., Prepares syringes for camera quality control.  Measures and logs results as needed., Thoroughly explains the nature and the procedure of the test to the patient.

Requirements

AS (Required)ARRT - Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARRT - Radiography (R) - (within 1 year) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire. - Sarah Bush Lincoln, Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist Program - Sarah Bush Lincoln, IEMA - Illinois Emergency Management Agency - State of Illinois
