Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex commercial refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers/freezers, rack systems, ice machines etc.
- Perform advanced electrical and mechanical diagnostics
- Lead installations, system replacements, and equipment commissioning
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions
- Mentor and support Junior Technicians and apprentices in the field
- Ensure preventative maintenance is completed thoroughly and to company standards
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding system conditions, repair options, and preventative maintenance strategies
- Accurately document service calls, parts usage, labor hours, and detailed repair notes
- Manage truck inventory and maintain proper tools and materials
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as needed
- Engage in ongoing technical training to remain current with manufacturer updates and industry advancements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial refrigeration service experience
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Manufacturer certifications and CFESA credentials are a plus
- Strong expertise in refrigeration systems, electrical diagnostics, airflow systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Experience with rack systems and commercial kitchen equipment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
- Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
- Own industry standard hand tools
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
Compensation Transparency
The advertised pay range for this position is $35-$45 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience level, technical certifications, specialized expertise, and overall qualifications. Candidates with advanced commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience, manufacture certifications, CFESA, or leadership experience may be considered at the higher end of the range.
