ROLE SUMMARY:

The Junior Financial Systems Specialist is an entry-level role that strengthens the technology backbone of the Finance Department, which supports both CRIPCS and its affiliated entity, Community Capital Corporation (CCC). Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this new position is responsible for maintaining integrations across the department’s core financial platforms, supporting automation and process improvement initiatives, assisting in the development of AI-enabled tools, and building and maintaining the dashboards that leadership relies on to make financial decisions. Working closely with the Finance team and the School’s outsourced accounting partner, the Junior Financial Systems Specialist gains broad exposure to nonprofit and fund-based finance operations while helping the department rationalize its software stack and continuously improve how work gets done.

CORE WORKSTREAMS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following outlines core duties and responsibilities for this position.

Systems Integration & Maintenance

  • Maintain and monitor integrations across the department’s core systems — including Sage Intacct, ADP, Nexus, Concur, and Tableau — to ensure data stays synchronized and accurate across platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration errors, data mismatches, and sync failures; escalate and document issues as needed.
  • Support the evaluation, design, and implementation of new system integrations as the technology stack evolves.

Automation & Process Improvement

  • Support special projects to automate systems, rationalize the current software stack, and streamline workflows across finance and accounting areas.
  • Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone finance processes and design automated solutions that improve accuracy and free up staff capacity.
  • Build, test, document, and maintain automated workflows as business needs change.

AI & Emerging Tools

  • Assist in developing and deploying AI-enabled tools and models that support financial reporting and day-to-day finance operations.
  • Prepare and structure data for use in AI applications, and help evaluate outputs for accuracy, reliability, and appropriate use.

Data Management & Dashboard Development

  • Manage financial data within Tableau, ensuring data sources are clean, well-organized, and reliable.
  • Create and maintain automated dashboards and visualizations that communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership and non-financial stakeholders across both entities.
  • Partner with Finance team members to translate reporting needs into intuitive, self-service dashboards.

Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Collaborate with the Finance team — including the Finance Manager, Accounting Specialist, Payroll & Benefits Administrator, and Grant Coordinator — and the outsourced accounting partner to support monthly close, reporting, and audit processes.
  • Help ensure systems and data handling adhere to organizational finance policies and applicable data privacy and security requirements.
  • Maintain clear documentation and standard operating procedures for the systems and workflows supported by this role.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Systems Thinking and Technical Aptitude: Foundational understanding of databases, data flows, and how software systems connect and share data; learns new platforms quickly and applies structured problem-solving to integration and automation challenges.
  • Data Visualization and Dashboard Development: Familiarity with or strong interest in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools; able to translate reporting needs into clear, accessible visualizations for non-technical audiences.
  • Curiosity About AI and Automation: Genuine interest in applying AI and automation to real business problems; comfortable preparing and evaluating data for use in AI-enabled tools and workflows.
  • Communication and Documentation: Communicates technical concepts clearly in writing and in conversation; maintains organized documentation and SOPs that enable colleagues to understand and use the systems you support.
  • Ownership and Follow-Through: Takes initiative, follows through on commitments, and approaches work with the mindset that great technology succeeds by enabling others — not by operating in isolation.
  • Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to CRIPCS’s core values and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) and the ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND OTHER EXPERIENCES:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 0–1 year of professional experience; internships, co-ops, and academic projects count.
  • Foundational understanding of databases, data flows, and how software systems connect and share data.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to CRIPCS’s core values and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) and the ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Must provide proof of Covid-19 Vaccination.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to Tableau, Power BI, or other data-visualization tools.
