POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Assistant Human Resources Director role is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Assistant Director of HR maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Managing position postings and applicant tracking through ADP Workforce Now, LinkedIn, Indeed, Hcareers, and other recruitment platforms.
  • Engages social media resources on a consistent basis to increase brand awareness and create talent pipelines.
  • Plans and directs activities of staff in carrying out such functions as developing sources of qualified applicants, conducting screening interviews/interview sessions, and evaluating applicant’s personality surveys.
  • Oversee the J-1/International work and travel program.
  • Manages Annual Open Enrollment Benefit process and benefits administration.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance for Management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of experience in a related area preferred.
  • Proven familiarity with aspects of human resource functions, federal and state laws, insurance plan administration, wage and hour laws and exposure to confidential information.
  • Must have Union Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Publisher, Word, Excel, Outlook required.

 SKILLS

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, work with deadlines, multi-task and apply consistent attention to details.
  • Ability to interact effectively, in a positive and helpful manner, with staff, coworkers, guests, customers, visitors and management.
  • Ability to work with deadlines, multi-task, quick thinker, attention to details.
  • Self-starter team player with dedication to follow-through and the ability to apply sound decision making and judgment skills in a fast-paced environment.
