Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands-on training and professional experience as an Activity Security Representative (ASR) Fellow, supporting multi-disciplined security activities in a mission-focused environment. In this Fellowship, participants will gain exposure to the day-to-day security functions that support a customer’s facility and organization, while building familiarity with administrative, personnel, physical, and program security activities associated with Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) environments.
The Activity Security Representative (ASR) Fellow will work alongside experienced security professionals and site leadership to support facility security, document control, personnel security, access control, visit processing, classified material accountability, and SAP-related actions. Under the guidance of experienced staff, Fellows will develop skills in security administration, clearance tracking, classified handling procedures, access processing, database maintenance, visitor control, security education support, and coordination with Government and industry stakeholders in support of mission requirements.
HOW AN ACTIVITY SECURITY REPRESENTATIVE (ASR) FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Supporting classification reviews of inbound and outbound correspondence.
Assisting in the maintenance of a document accountability database and associated correspondence.
Supporting the processing of inbound and outbound classified mail and receipt records.
Assisting with the destruction of classified materials.
Supporting the processing of magnetic media for accountability.
Providing reproduction support for classified materials.
Maintaining various daily logs for a variety of administrative functions associated with document control.
Assisting in the processing of inbound data and outbound data transfer files.
Transferring electronic data files to internal customers.
Maintaining an extensive customer database point of contact listing.
Assisting with researching, processing, filing, and maintaining inbound and outbound visit notices.
Escorting facility visitors and maintaining associated logs.
Assisting in the preparation of facility access control badges.
Conducting entry and exit inspections.
Assisting in the maintenance of facility access control entry systems, to include visitor control.
Performing data entry to the Personnel Access Security System database and maintaining all customer-sponsored billets and quota information.
Assisting in maintaining personnel security files for all personnel of the supported element.
Following and helping enforce the customer’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Providing support for security awareness and education programs.
Performing miscellaneous administrative support functions as directed by the contractor site lead and/or the Senior Security Representative.
Reviewing, tracking, and monitoring security clearance processing activities with appropriate Government personnel to support appropriate clearance actions.
Participating in Air Force SAP security compliance inspections of Government organizations and industry.
Supporting implementation of Top Secret Control for accountable material and associated correspondence.
Preparing and/or processing inbound and outbound classified mail, faxes, courier packages, and receipts.
Preparing, processing, and/or reviewing Program Access Requests (PARs) for accuracy and access eligibility.
Executing Special Access Program Nomination Process Questionnaires.
Conducting Defense Central Index of Investigations (DCII), Defense Information System for Security (DISS), and SAPNP reviews of candidates being submitted for SAP access.
Performing data entry and record checks in the Air Force Access Data System (AFADS) and maintaining all customer-sponsored personnel access information as current.
Participating in indoctrinations.
Supporting leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance efforts for team members, as appropriate within the Fellowship environment.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related area OR Associate’s degree in a related area + 2 years’ experience OR equivalent experience (4 years)
Experience:
5+ years of related experience.
Prior experience supporting SAP, SCI, collateral security, personnel security, document control, access control, or related security operations preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills:
Familiarity with security policy/manuals and the appropriate DCIDs/JAFANs and other guiding policy documents.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DoW, military/civilian personnel, and industry partners.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Familiarity with DD Form 254 and how it is incorporated in the Air Force acquisition process preferred.
Possess a high degree of originality, creativity, and initiative requiring minimal supervision.
Role Requirements:
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
U.S. Citizenship required.
On-site attendance required on customer site
Fellowship duration and schedule aligned with SkillBridge program and training leadership requirements.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Certifications:
Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) preferred.
Special Program Security Certification (SPSC) preferred.
DoW SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoW SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.
