Position: Associate Director, Staff Experience & Special Projects
Reports to: Senior Director, Organizational Strategy and Partnerships
Location: Washington, D.C. - Hybrid
Status: Full-time; Exempt
Salary: $85,000 - $91,000
Position Summary
The Hub Project is seeking an Associate Director of Staff Experience & Special Projects to support our growing team of 50+ staff. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Director of Organizational Strategy and Partnerships to design and implement key processes and initiatives, support staff through the full employee lifecycle, and ensure our culture is people-first.
As the Associate Director of Staff Experience & Special Projects, you will:
- Partner with the Senior Director on org-wide initiatives and internal communications.
- Serve as the project manager of organizational workflows and processes, including but not limited to onboarding, offboarding, and performance management cycles.
- Support staff by providing clear resources and guidance on process steps, deadlines, and required documentation.
- Develop and implement new processes, systems, and employee resources as needed, in partnership with the Senior Director.
- Drive projects forward with clear plans, thoughtful prioritization, and consistent follow-through.
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in existing systems and workflows, proactively propose solutions, and execute.
- Develop and administer the organization’s learning and development program.
- Identify vendors, training(s), and professional development topics of interest in alignment with employee need and interest.
- Project manage individual requests for funds.
- Organize and facilitate culture-building events, such as social activities, staff celebrations, and volunteer opportunities.
- Establish an employee engagement and feedback framework; administer surveys and partner with senior leadership to enhance the employee experience.Â
- Maintain well-organized, detailed, and accurate records; ensure shared internal resources are kept accessible and up to date.
- Track deadlines and follow-through on recurring reporting and compliance requirements.
- Support the operational and logistical implementation of employee benefits and collective bargaining agreements.
- Regularly audit resources and workflows to ensure compliance and alignment with NVF processes and with the Hub’s mission and values.
- Support equitable and inclusive operations by applying an equity lens to policies, processes, and day-to-day work.
- Proactively flag risks, issues, delays, or capacity constraints to the Senior Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
About you:
- You have 5+ years of experience in operations, HR, project management, or a related function.
- You have demonstrated success in developing and maintaining processes, resources, and workflows for large, diverse teams.
- You are people-first and have proven experience building strong relationships and trust across teams, functions, and levels.
- You are highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- You enjoy being part of a tight-knit team, but own your work and can deliver results independently.
- You exercise sound judgment, manage sensitive information with discretion, and maintain confidentiality.

Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plans and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
