Job Summary
Certified Medication Aide (CMA)Â assists in administering medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring correct dosages, times, and documentation, while also providing basic nursing care and monitoring resident well-being.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Medication Administration:
- Administer oral and topical medications as prescribed by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.Â
- Ensure the correct medication, dosage, and time are administered.Â
- Document medication administration accurately, including dosage, time, and resident response.Â
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration.Â
- Report any adverse reactions or side effects to the supervising nurse.Â
Basic Nursing Care:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.Â
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse.Â
- Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
Resident Care and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and comfort of residents.Â
- Answer residents’ call lights and respond to their needs promptly.Â
- Maintain a clean and organized environment.Â
- Follow established healthcare standards and practices.Â
Communication and Documentation:
- Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.Â
- Document resident care and medication administration accurately and thoroughly.Â
- Report any changes in resident condition or concerns to the supervising nurse.Â
Â
Other Duties:
- May assist with other nursing tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse.Â
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.Â
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.Â
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience as a Certified Medication Aide in a Skilled Nursing, Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
- Licensed Certified Medication Aide in the State this position is held in.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment. Â
- Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.Â
