To supervise the maintenance operations and physical condition of the hotel to ensure highest standards of guest satisfaction within allotted budget.

Key duties/responsibilities of Hotel Chief Engineer:

路 Supervises, develops, and maintains an ongoing maintenance operation for hotel, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, air/heating units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch gear rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.

路 Develops and manages Room, Common Area, Back of House, Banquet, and Meeting preventative maintenance plans.

路 On a regular basis, inspects and evaluates physical condition of the hotel asset, including all guestrooms, public areas, pool area; completes and retains inspection reports on a regular and timely basis, using then-current Company inspection forms.

路 Works closely with other departments (i.e., Front Office and Housekeeping Departments on maintenance and repairs issues) and Corporate Project Manager to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.

路 Orders material and completes work assignments on time and by a specified date.

路 Performs work within departmental expense plans. Assists Director of Engineering in capital budgeting.

路 Maintains hotel by managing painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical, and other related maintenance activities.

路 Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.

路 Interprets specifications, job orders and company policies to maintenance employees.

路 Oversees compliance with OSHA standards regarding proper usage, dilution of products, equipment safety and usage as well as blood-borne pathogen precautions and procedures. Refers to ABLE Hospitality Risk Management Procedure Manual for all OSHA standards.

路 Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, recommends measures to improve production.

路 Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in resolving work problems.

路 Supervises and motivates maintenance staff including coaching, counseling, evaluating, and training activities.

路 Communicates verbally and in writing with all levels of employees.

路 Attends periodic meetings with Director of Engineering and/or department heads, conducts and/or participates in safety meetings at designated intervals with hotel staff.

路 Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.

路 Understands government regulations affecting hotel鈥檚 operations, ensuring hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, state, or municipal authority.

路 As required of all hotel associates, assists any customer or potential customer in a prompt, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner always.

SKILLS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

路 Experience that is commensurate with hospitality for the position of Chief Engineer. Prefer 5+ years hotel operations experience.

路 Strong employee relation skills, coaching skills and training skills

路 As required, highest level relevant state/local license for stationary engineers and/or HVAC plus universal level refrigerant recovery license

路 BOMA accredited courses desirable.

路 Preferred: High-rise Fire Safety Director, Haz-Mat Certification, Indoor Air Quality Certification, LEED Certification

路 Strong oral and written communication skills.

路 Ability to work with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

路 Computer skills and building automation systems experience required.

路 Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as required.

路 Working knowledge of energy conservation required, formal training preferred
