Overview

Navteca is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise cloud solutions. This role is responsible for defining and driving cloud architecture strategies, standards, and best practices across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud platforms and service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects, development teams, and infrastructure groups to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-based solutions aligned with enterprise objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise cloud architectures aligned with organizational strategy and standards
  • Develop and enforce cloud architecture frameworks, policies, and best practices
  • Collaborate with business owners, analysts, developers, and infrastructure teams to define application and data architecture
  • Lead cloud adoption strategies and modernization initiatives
  • Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud solutions across multiple platforms
  • Guide development teams in building cloud-native and hybrid applications
  • Implement and integrate solutions across major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs)
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation strategies
  • Ensure all solutions comply with Fairfax County standards and requirements
  • Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and DevOps best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams

Required Skills & Technologies

  • Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Cloud Models: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
  • Containerization: Kubernetes
  • Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu or similar)
  • Programming/Scripting: .NET, PHP, Bash, PowerShell
  • DevOps & Tools: Git, CI/CD pipelines
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
  • Experience integrating applications with cloud-native services and APIs

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture, engineering, or related roles
  • Proven experience designing enterprise-scale cloud solutions
  • Strong understanding of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience implementing secure and compliant cloud architectures
  • Ability to align technical solutions with business needs
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience working in government or regulated environments is a plus

Work Location & Schedule

  • On-site or hybrid depending on contract requirements
  • Primary location: Fairfax County Government Center
    12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)
  • May require participation in an on-call rotation
  • Must adhere to Fairfax County and/or FCPS holiday and inclement weather policies

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site at County or approved offsite locations as needed
  • Time worked outside approved hours is not billable
  • Timesheets must be submitted for all work performed
  • Staff may not perform work for other clients during assigned County hours
